Queenswood Quality of Life Through Greater Understanding Foundation

A copy of the completed second step of our proposal for “A Long-Term Rehabilitative and Therapeutic Programme For Offenders With Cognitive Disabilities” can now be found in the Download section.  We have begun working on some of the ideas contained within this document including the development of a Think Tank, Educational Directions, as well as a Crisis Team.  The Foundation is still in process but we expect to have the legal aspects finished in the next few weeks and are establishing our initial Board of Directors.  We will keep you posted.

It  will be the Foudations mandate to provide:

• screening/assessment/diagnosis
• interventions (environmental, behavioural, medical)
• prevention (of challenging behaviours)
• training (of caregivers; instruction for students, trainers, etc.)
• research (on all aspects of cognitive disabilities)
• plublication of research,j interventions, information
• oversight for geroup homes (and similar) and interventions
• auditing of services

The proposal, in its narrowest form, will apply the first three above, and at its widest, all.

REBE will be an important component in how the above will be accomplished.
